The Official LAX Spotting Guide

Where?

In-N-Out Burger

Best for having a plane fly directly over your head
The iconic location where planes pass directly overhead before touching down on the north runways (24L/R). Great for close up photography and video with burgers next door.

Location: Westchester area, adjacent to LAX's north runways.

Address: 9149 S Sepulveda Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90045

Best For: Watching planes land (arrivals) on the North Runway (Runway 24R).

Views: Directly overhead. Aircraft are extremely low, flying straight at you on final approach, often feeling like you could reach up and touch them. See the planes flare before touchdown. This location provides the iconic "jet landing over the palm trees and the In-N-Out sign" photo opportunity.

Proximity: The best viewing is from the small grassy park called "Airplane Landing View Point" located directly across W. 92nd Street from the In-N-Out restaurant. You can bring a blanket or chair and set up comfortably.

Photography: Excellent views all day. Best lighting in the afternoon/sunset when the sun is generally to the west, beautifully illuminating the belly and sides of the approaching aircraft.

Hours: Park is open 24 hours.

Parking: Street parking on W 92nd Street and Sepulveda Westway. In-N-Out has parking for restaurant patrons. There is also a shopping center across Sepulveda with lots of parking for patrons that’s an easy walk to the park

Facilities: The adjacent In-N-Out has food, drinks, and restrooms during its operating hours (10:30 am - 1:00 AM). They also have outdoor tables for dining with great views.

Reverse Operations: Planes are taking off away from the spot (less dramatic).
